Supply-chain autonomy and cost control have pushed basic materials — heat-shrink tubing among them — onto the localisation list for defence, high-end equipment and new-energy programmes. Replacement is not a matter of swapping one brand for another. It has to match on standard, performance, supply and service.
Why replace imported tubing at all
Heat-shrink tubing is a low-value item that sits in a critical position: it is the insulation and protection of the harness. Imported product brings three recurring problems. Lead time depends on shipping and factory scheduling, so batch programmes are hard to plan. Quality disputes travel a long chain and take a long time to close. And the high-end grades are expensive, which presses on project cost. A domestic manufacturer shipping direct can respond quickly, produce to order and support locally.
Five dimensions to evaluate
Do not qualify an alternative on whether the datasheet looks similar. Work through five dimensions in order.
| Dimension | What to examine | YJDWL-1 position |
|---|---|---|
| Test standard | Tested to a recognised standard, with reports | GJB 7270-2011, GB/T 7113.2 and the GJB 150 series |
| Performance data | Temperature, insulation, flame, strength | −55 to 135 °C, 2500 V/60 s, VW-1, tensile ≥ 9.0 MPa |
| Environmental coverage | Salt spray, damp heat, mould | All three passed, mould resistance grade I or better |
| Supply stability | Lead time, batch size, size range | Direct from the manufacturer, 24 size rows, cut and reeled to order |
| Technical support | Samples, selection help, answers | Sample service, local engineering response |
What YJDWL-1 brings
YJDWL-1 military adhesive-lined tubing is made by Guangdong Yilian Electronic Technology Co., Ltd. The outer wall is irradiation cross-linked modified flame-retardant polyolefin and the inner wall is hot-melt adhesive, with 3:1 and 4:1 ratios covering Φ1.6 to Φ50.8 mm and 4/1 to 52/13. It is tested to GJB 7270-2011, the general specification for military heat-shrinkable electrical insulating sleeving, for longitudinal shrinkage, tensile strength, elongation at break, heat ageing, heat shock, low-temperature flexibility, dielectric withstand and copper corrosion. Salt spray, damp heat and mould follow the GJB 150 series, and the material meets RoHS 2011/65/EU.
Side by side with imported dual wall
| Item | YJDWL-1 | Imported dual wall (typical) |
|---|---|---|
| Test basis | GJB 7270-2011 and GB/T series | Often a supplier standard or UL |
| Continuous temperature | −55 to 135 °C | Commonly 125 °C class |
| Dielectric withstand | 2500 V, 60 s, no breakdown | Grade dependent |
| Flame | Self-extinguishing within 60 s, VW-1 | Grade dependent |
| Mould resistance | Grade I or better; salt spray and damp heat passed | Not tested on some part numbers |
| Lead time | Direct supply, controllable | Shipping and scheduling dependent |
| Technical support | Local, samples and selection support | Longer communication chain |
| Cost | Competitive | Higher |
A four-step switchover
Samples: request samples with the specification approval sheet and material certificate, and look at the physical part and the documents together.
Validation: retest the critical properties to the project requirement, concentrating on dielectric withstand, flame, low temperature and sealing.
Pilot run: use a small quantity on the real line or at the real installation point to confirm the process and lot-to-lot consistency.
Volume switch: once stable, add the supplier to the approved list and schedule volume deliveries.
The manufacturing base behind it
Guangdong Yilian Electronic Technology Co., Ltd. has specialised in heat-shrink sleeving for 12 years. The factory was founded in 2014 in Zhongshan, Guangdong, and occupies a 15,000 m² production base with more than 20 pieces of production equipment, covering heat-shrink tubing, braided sleeving, silicone sleeving and PVC sleeving. Customers are welcome to visit and audit the plant.
